This weekend we sped west to attend a grad celebration for Hubs' cousin, who also happened to be our flower girl nine years ago. Yep, feelin' mighty old. Especially packin' in two kids and one on the way. My how time flies. And to think I was only three years older than she is now when I got married. Frighteningly too young.
We also stayed with the fam, Hubs' parents that is. We lounged, talked, and we shopped. I was in need of retail therapy and my MIL is always up for a trip to the mall. This was especially good for two reasons: 1. Gymbucks earning time at Gymboree. Yes, I got in trouble but if you had seen those plaid shorts and that flowered swimsuit you would have done the s a m e thing so pipe down. 2. I need some maternity clothing and I detest shopping for myself when I'm not pregnant. Shopping for maternity clothes is right up there with plucking nose hairs.
In case you haven't gathered, I am not one of those women who luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuvs being pregnant. I'm not fun to be around and I whine. A lot. Like I'm doing right now. I recognize this in myself and have tried to buck up and keep my complaints to myself because no one likes a whiney pregnant girl. The whole process I could do with a little less of. But it's a necessary thing so here I am. This is round three on my body and it shows. I had two family members on Saturday ask if I sure that I was not having twins. Haha. Very funny.
Anyhoo, all this to say shopping for maternity clothes isn't my idea of fun. You pay more money for poorly made clothing that you wear for less than one year. And they're typically either long and drape-like or they are close and fitted for the svelt pregnant twentysomething who is proud to show her big round, smooth, stretch mark-less belly. Yeeaah. I can honestly say that of the maternity clothes that I have purchased my husband has picked out most of them. I walk into stores that sell the stuff and none of it appeals to me. I pretty much need a personal shopper to thrust things into the dressing room and say, "Try this." Which is what my MIL did for me. Hallelujah for patient shopping partners who are 27 years postpartum and still glad to shop for maternity clothes.
We returned today and went almost immediately to The Princess' birthday party where we BBQ'd, the kids swam, and I got to watch my mom jump on the trampoline. THAT was a worthwhile sight I tell ya.
While I was gone THIS happened. WOOHOO! My nest egg for the Big Antiques Show is growing!
Yep.
That about sums it up. Nothing too exciting. But then, when is it exciting around here?

Morning Glory on a trampoline? I do hope there are pictures!
If I posted the video, I don't think Morning Glory would ever speak to me again. Even tho she was pretty cute up there jumping!! :)
My motto when I was pregnant was ... if I can't get it off the internet, I won't get it.
Okay, that doesn't make any sense now that I'm NOT pregnant... Oh well. Worked for me then!
Morning Glory will NOT been seen on anyone's blog jumping on the trampoline. It was fun, though.
Have you tried Old Navy for maternity? The stuff is cheap, well made enough to last you through the pregnancy without falling apart, and did I mention cheap? Plus you can purchase it from the comfort of your home and only pay $5 shipping. Other than stuff I borrowed from a friend, that's all I bought last time (for winter) and this time (for summer).
Nothing too exciting???!!!! What about Brownie #2 selling for an EXCITINGLY HIGH PRICE!!!! ??? :) That was most definitely X CITE ING! (at least for me for you, anyway)
Are you kidding Karen? Pregnancy is about the ONLY time people allow you to whine. Get it all out now, because we are a doting audience. :)
My husband always did a good job when I sent him shopping for my maternity clothes. I got a few good things off e-bay, but the best ones came as loaners from my sister and friends.
I think if I'd decided I wanted more than 1 child - I would sound exactly like you! My first sucked, and I think it only would have gotten worse. And now that I have a nice happy pill to balance out depression, I can't imagine going off of it AND being pregnant! :)
Hang in there! Complain away!
Gee, Queen Beth - Morning Glory's proclamation sounded sort of like a challenge - - don't you think?? Besides, it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission!! HA!! R
