I got an email from one of the event organizers for Saturday (Bloggirls in Idaho) sharing who all is going to be attending and that if I'm planning to bring someone with me that I need to let her know pronto. Do you think it counts that I'm growing a second head on my face in the form a giant pimple? Do I need to RSVP for my zit? It is quite large, painful, and taking on a life of its own. By Saturday it is going to require its own nametag and will be hosting its own blog site. "Hello. My name is Karen. I write The Big Trade-Off and this is my zit . . ."
Spicey and I made yet another one of our many trips to Wal-Mart this morning where she proceeded to bring the house down with the naughtiest performance yet. I really thought I was going to just curl up in a little ball and start crying in frustration and embarrassment. We were finally in the check out line and she was still doing her thing. I was really trying hard to deal with it the best way I could without invoking a call by another shopper to child protective services when an older woman, probably my grandmother's age, made her way over for the soul purpose of saying to me, "You're doing a good job, mom" with a kind smile on her face.
I really needed to hear that.

I've had a couple zits I was certain I needed to claim as a dependant on my taxes. Too bad we can't really do that, eh?
And oh, that grandma in WalMart did MY heart good. I don't think I could show my face in any store again if I didn't know there are people in the world who understand the dynamics of parenting a super spicey child. :)
You are doing a good job.
Hang in there, both the zit and Spicey's behavior will pass.
Wow, you encountered a KIND person at Wal-Mart! That alone amazes me!
Hopefully you live close enough to the "get together" that you don't have to pack for that new resident....LOL
Once again I say - Spicey and Care Bear have a lot in common! This summer should be a scream. Video cameras, please!
that was so kind of that lady! I bet she didn't even know you would publish that to the whole internet to read, but here's to the nice old lady in Walmart ((claps hands frantically))
Seriously..your skin is so pretty and your smile is so nice who's going to notice the growth on your face? I didn't!
And the grandma in Wal-Mart...well, how wonderful! I depend on people like her to get me through shopping experiences at any store...we are fortunate to have people out there who say such kind things that it could bring us to a sobbing, heap on the dirty floor of Wal-Mart...
You'll probably be more inclined to do the same someday for some desperate Mom trying to cling to the thread-bare, shredding curtain of sanity...(maybe even me!)
I didn't notice it either, Karen... My skin calls out to yours all the time ~ "hey... HEY! See that skin over there!? Yeah, Karen's... that's what I want MIIIIINE to look like!"
As far as Wal-Mart... God brought you a little gift compared to your last Wal-Mart story with Spicey. :)
It's nice to hear that there are nice or helpful people out there. You rarely hear of them anymore. Kinda sad, huh?
Dude, can I come with you instead of the zit? Sigh. You work so hard at providing consistency for your Spice Girl -- it's so evident!
Maybe your zit and my zit can make friends during dinner.
What a nice lady!
Oh I like the idea of your zit making friends at the table. I am sure it won't be the only one.
And three cheers for the lady at Wal-mart. I cherish the few comments I have received like that.
God bless people who understand what it's like to be a mom!
:)
From Spicey's grandma to that grandma in Walmart -- God Bless You!!
God bless that woman. I've had a similar thing happen to me a time or two, and it always makes me promise myself that when I'm older, I'll walk around the grocery store and do the same thing to young moms.
what a sweet woman! my walmart needs a woman like that!
and the zit? it'll be gone. don't worry.
Awww, don't you just love people like that? I must remember to be like that when I myself have left the freaking out kid phase of life (that is going to be a while though. . .)
I just popped one on my chin this morning that scared me when I looked in the mirror today.
That was sweet of that woman. Seems the "older" generation is kinder and more understanding of those types of situations than the younger generation who wants to call social services if they see so much as a bruise on a childs body.
That was very sweet of her, it's always nice to hear someone tell you your being a good mom....
I can relate with the zit thing, I have a wedding in 2 weeks and I am breaking out all over my neck, I am 46 years old what's going on here!!
