Sick Day, etc.

My son is currently tucked in on the couch with his blankies (yes, that is plural), his pillow, and his favorite quilt all while spooning with the cat. He has a fever and cough that sounds as if its origins might be as far down as his knees. He is half asleep. Larry, Bob, and Junior Asparagus are seranading on the television. I am in my pj's blogging. My husband and two year old with attitude are at church. It's a rather quiet morning though I suspect he is starting to feel better because he was milking his infirmity by asking to open Christmas presents. Nice try, Buddy.

Apparently I've been tagged by Karli to participate in a meme. It's my understanding that the word is pronounced "meem", not "me-me", "mehm", or even "meh-may". Regardless, it's a fancy name for what loosely reminds me of a slam book that we circulated in junior high only not as emotionally damaging. Ok, maybe it's not anything like a slam book, but for some reason this passing around concept brings it (shamefully) to mind. I'm not sure if I even have the brain power or creative juices for this but I'll give it a whirl. Hopefully the Teletubbies left me some brain cells after their last vacuuming incident. Mom: don't be mad if there's stuff on here you didn't know. I'm flying by the seat of my pants on this one. My answers are in no particular order.

Seven things I hope to do before I die:
1. See New York City, the Holy Land, and revisit Washington DC.
2. Take my children to Disney World.
3. Live on the Oregon Coast
4. Own a small business
5. Outlive my parents because I selfishly never want to live life when they are not in it.
6. Make a quilt
7. See my children grow into compassionate, loving, Christ centered adults, and choose partners with similar qualities.

Seven things I cannot do:
1. Lose these last 5 pounds of baby weight
2. Play golf and snowboard, two things my husband loves that I wish I could do with him
3. Stop buying fabric
4. Decide if I want to purposely have more children
5. Sing well
6. Stop aging
7. Shelter and protect my children forever without stunting their personal growth and development

Seven things that attract me to my spouse:
1. The incredible father he is to our children.
2. He is true as the day is long and has an amazing level of integrity and kindness
3. His capacity to forgive and forget almost instantly
4. He has smooshy lips shaped like a heart.
5. He sings like an angel
6. His snappy sense of style
7. The back of his head. It's the first thing I saw and fell in love with. I knew I would marry him.

Seven things I say often:
1. Hey
2. Did you flush?
3. Did you wash your hands?
4. Stop! screaming!
5. Oooooooooo I love you!
6. I'm cold
7. Flav'r Flav!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seven books or book series I love:
1. Ramona books by Beverly Cleary. I can't wait to read these to my kids
2. The Mitford Series by Jan Karon
3. Abram's Daughters Series by Beverly Lewis
4. Bear books I featured earlier this week
5. Women's Bible studies written by Beth Moore.
6. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
7. Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace

Seven movies I could watch over and over again:
ok, this one stumps me. I'm not a huge movie lover.
1. Can't Buy Me Love
2. Most anything by Hallmark Hall of Fame
3. Toy Story 1 & 2
4. You've Got Mail
5. Wallace and Gromit
6. Fried Green Tomatoes
7. Star Wars movies

Seven people I want to join me in this Seven Sevens meme:
1. Brooke of Life in Suburbia because it's her fault I'm blogging and she's family so she's obligated
2. Kim from My Reasons for Scrapbooking because I think she's cool and wish I could take digital scrapbooking lessons from her.
3. Jamie from Keith Family News. I found her through Brooke's blog and think she is a hoot. And because I'm tired of looking at the poopy pants.
4. My lovely Sis who doesn't have a blog and should. She'll just have to email it to me.
5. Very Mom because, wow, um, just how do you describe her? But I doubt she reads moi so moving on . . .
6. Maki from Mommy Maki because I think she's funny.
7. Insert yourself here. If you want to participate leave your link in the comments section and I would love to visit your blog and read it. Tag! You're it!

Speaking of my sister . . . today is her birthday. I must, therefore, end this session with a tribute to her. I would love to post a photo but I don't have permission to send her face out into cyberspace to be mutilated and superimposed onto bodies on nudey websites. So you'll just have to imagine how wonderful she is.

Happy birthday dear Sister of mine. My first and very best friend through life. The only friend who shares my memories from the beginning. The one who I can say anything to, trust completely and know that I am not judged. The woman with strength and courage beyond description and love so deep, so true, so steadfast its recipients can't possibly comprehend it. My life is blessed with you in it and I am proud to have my daughter share her name with you. I hope she will inherit your beautiful qualities.

So happy birthday to you, dear friend. I love you!

I'm glad Karli tagged you and that you asked what a meme was. Although I've seen them around a ton and done one or two myself, I wasn't exactly sure of the definition.

I love your lists. I keep reading other people's responses and thinking, "Oh, I wish I'd said that." Oh, and don't give in on the presents thing. Be strong. I hope Cool feels better soon.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Washington DC. Great "meem".

Have been 3 times and every time I get so mad that I saw nothing.

So glad people will admit that it is hard to purposely have more children:-)

Have just gotten into the Mitford series and I really love it!

Oh good! I'm glad you love Mitford! I find reading them brings a feeling of peace to me. Hard to explain but a wonderful feeling when I'm having a hard go of it.
