The Daring Young Family stopped for a visit while travelling to their family for Christmas. People, let me tell you, she is just as great in person as she is online. She's even better, in fact, with the addition of her husband and children. Our visit was not nearly long enough and I think we could have spent hours gabbing and laughing so we will have to do it again another time. I am so thankful that we both trusted that the other was not a psychopath web stalker and agreed to get together. Kathryn and I both photo-documented like freaks for our blogs so be sure that you go to Daring Young Mom to read her account of the visit when she gets it posted.
I originally had planned to wear the green sweater but when my husband came home he was so revolted that I was forced to change my clothes. Wouldn't you know that it was one of the first things she asked to see? She then proceeded to wear it with pride for most of the evening. It was fabulous. She also wanted her photo taken with the wisemen candle holders especially for her sister. So thoughtful. I reminded her of the dire consequences should one be damaged and she consented and signed over her life insurance policy should something go wrong. You just can never be too careful when it comes to people you meet on the internet, you know?
Our children Magoo and the Screaming Banshee Toddler hit it off immediately. They played together and she rarely left his side the whole evening. She seldom shares but she generously showered him with Little People toys and gave him a kiss before we put her to bed.
Eulallia sent along some goodies of the homemade cookie variety which were scarfed entirely within fifteen minutes. My daughter consumed two in rapid succession while wearing the hat that Kathryn knitted for her. The hat, it was a popular item tonight. She also took the time to make a fleece hat for Cool and an apron for me. Laylee and Magoo received some early Christmas treats too but I'll let Kathryn blog those if she wants to.
Laylee and Cool enjoyed playing throughout the evening and she very nicely consented to letting him boss her around. Or maybe it was just that she was drop dead exhausted from being in the car for ten hours? I snuggled little Magoo until he fell asleep and it was heavenly. The Daring Young Children are some of the most beautiful little children I've ever seen and I'm not just saying that because I met their mother on the internet and she now knows where I live.
We ate, played Rook, laughed, and talked. She wanted to see all the stuff I talk about on my blog- my fabric stash, Brownie my sewing machine, pictures, the Holiday Family Lounge Pants, and we got totally giddy putting together the photo of her feet and Brownie, just like our blogger profile pictures. It was great and, truthfully, a little surreal. It was so cool to put a real living, breathing person to the internet personality that I've connected with as a friend. I still can't believe that they came to my house. She is way funnier than I can even imagine being and has this amazing generous spirit about her. But on the whole she represents so many new friends who do, feel, think, experience, and believe in so many of the same things I do. And the amazing part is that we all come from different places and have different backgrounds.
My blog world and real world collided tonight and it was the best.

Smoldering with jealousy.....
I am so glad you guys had fun!!
OH! I am jealous! The picture of the toes and the sewing machine made me laugh out loud. What I want to know is, does Kathryn always have such nicely painted toes? Because if so, I am quite impressed.
Come to my house next! :)
Karen. You are way too nice.
He He HE. Karen lent me the nail polish. I have to write more on my blog. They were awesome. We were the nail-polish stealing-for-the-sake-of-the-blog types. Come over any time Brooke.
I even got to meet her. She's a lovely person and her children are adorable!! What a cool experience for you both.
I'm just sorry I was too nasty looking yesterday to come over and visit. How's that for insecurity and vanity? Yes people, I have a complex too.
I luv your blog. My curiosity was sparked by the toes/brownie picture and I just read every post on your blog while I listened to customers say "But you PROMISED delivery by Christmas!"
Does that qualify me as a blog stalker? You are on my blog roll now.
It's Balderdash Thursday
I am SO jealous, too. K... you rule. I am glad you had such a great time. I couldn't quite afford the gas for the trip out. Next time, mon ami. But the two of us might have been too much all at once. You should see what we're like when we get together!
:)
Isn't the internet a wonderful thing :)
Glad you guys had a good time. Tis the season :)
Thanks lfierge! I will go check out your site! That's so nice! Blog stalkers rule, I consider myself certified at it.
Heather, I SO want to play Rook Smack Down. You and Kathryn make plans and we'll meet.
How fabulous! (I'm new at DYM since that whole Princess & the Pea flap.) I adore the profile picture collaboration.
Hey, I just found your blog through DYM's blog. I like her style myself. And you sew? I'll be keeping track of you, too, I think...
How fun for you guys to meet!
Who knew that the blog world could be so... so... so normal?
So awesome. The other week I had a dream that there was a blogging reunion or something. It was very fun and exciting. So glad you had a great time!
