- (happy day) Four new bookorder mini-catalogs. I can't wait to peruse them while I eat lunch.
- School pictures. Two days before school picturse he ran rull speed into the corner of the wall. Miraculously the bruise barely showed in the picture. I love these new pictures not only because the bruise doesn't show enough to require retakes but I also LOVE how well it captures the spirit of this amazing little boy of mine.
- His first report card. Enter Mother Bear. First I must remind myself that this is a k i n d e r g a r t e n report card. There is no permanent record, this is a baseline. The "progress key" is 3 letters: Y= yes, A= almost, N= not yet. He received all Y's in the social development area except in 4 areas where he got A's. And I must confess that I'm not shocked at the areas he received A's in. They all have to do with working in a group, following directions, and listening skills. All areas that (surprise, surprise) we have problems with at home. He didn't receive any N's. So why do I feel the way I do? Protective, like I want to growl at the teacher, like I want to challenge the A's. There's nothing wrong with "almost", it could almost be a verb, right? It's in-progress, moving forward toward yes. Someone shoot the mother bear with a tranquilizer gun. It's going to be just fine.
I must go now. Cool just called me from the next room, "Mommy, I need a kiss from you".
Be still my beating heart.
